Boil Water Advisory (March 16, 2017)

City of Rantoul, Franklin County, Kansas

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has issued a boil water advisory for the public water supply located in the City of Rantoul in Franklin County. A line break resulted in a loss of pressure in the system; the advisory will remain in effect until the affected system is resolved adequately. Failure in pressure maintenance may result in a loss of chlorine residuals and bacterial contamination.

Customers were notified quickly about the system failure and are advised to boil water for one minute before drinking and using it.

A reduction in water pressure from a leak and emergency repair on the water main is the cause of a Boil Water Advisory at Central Park Elementary school. Parents are encouraged to send bottled water with their children to school while the advisory is in effect.
